How To Fit An Internal Door Frame

Home Improvements

Learning how to replace an internal door might sound compilated, but our internal door sets come pre-hung and ready to install. This means that you do not have to fit the new doors into a new frame; or into an existing frame.

Your hardware and fixings, such as door handles, should all be installed, but please check everything is working correctly and let us know as soon as possible if there are any problems.

How to hang an internal door

Once your flooring is in place, carefully insert the frame into the rough opening, making sure that the door and frame is level, straight and plumb.

Push the frame in so that it is flush with the wall and use a hammer to knock in suitable packers or shims around the frame so that the frame fits securely into the opening. Check the frame’s sides with a spirit level to make sure they are all level.

There should be an equal gap between the door and the frame all the way around which is usually around the thickness of a 2p coin. Adjustments can be made around the frame by adding mire shims or packers.

How to fit an internal door to the wall

Now it is time to fix your door to the wall.

Here at Apollo Doorsets, we will provide all the appropriate fixing you require. Fixing should be placed equal spaces apart and a minimum of 15cm from both the top and bottom of the door. We endeavour to make this process as easy as possible for you. So we provide specifications for your doorset and can even provide an installation video or consultation via Facetime if you need an expert to talk you through the installation.

Once the door is secured you can trim any packers or shims which are on show and do a final check to make sure the door is sat flush with the wall; and your door and hardware is operating smoothly with no sticking.

Apollo DoorSets are a leading supplier of internal door sets in the UK; and we pride ourselves on our customer service and aftercare. So if you have any doubts please get in touch and our friendly team will be happy to help.
